Boyden Cavern is located on Highway 180, 19 miles east of Grant Grove. There is no cell service in this area so please make sure you have maps, directions, and ticket information downloaded/saved before your trip.
From Fresno - about 2 hours
Drive east on Highway 180, approximately 77 miles. The cavern is located on the right.
From Three Rivers - 2 - 2.5 hours
Option 1 - Longer but easier
Take either Hwy 198 or Hwys 216, 201, and 120 to get to Hwy 63. Take Hwy 63 north to Highway 180. Turn right (east) onto Hwy 180 and travel 46 miles on Hwy 180 to reach Boyden Cavern
Option 2 - to visit Sequoia as well
Take Hwy 198 north through Sequoia National Park. Turn right (east) onto Hwy 180 and travel 21 miles on Hwy 180 to reach Boyden Cavern
— Not recommended if you aren’t stopping at anything in Sequoia. Traffic can be very heavy on busy days. —
Option 3 - less miles, but is it truly shorter? Depends on how you drive on small mountain roads
Take Dry Creek Road to Hwy 245 North. Continue on Hwy 245 until it reaches Hwy 180. Turn right (east) onto Highway 180 and travel 26 miles until you reach Boyden Cavern

Final note of caution
Do not select “avoid tolls” on your directions. It will try to route you around the entrance booths at the parks. This route is not meant for casual drivers, it is a 4x4 off road trail that many people have gotten stuck on or spent hours and hours to complete.
